Problem -
CLUTCH SLIP / FAILURE - FRICTION PLATE
The customer complains that the engine speed increases without a corresponding increase in vehicle speed. There may also be a complaint of an unpleasant smell entering the vehicle.
Cause
Deterioration of the clutch plate friction material during arduous usage resulting in clutch slip.
Action
Where a vehicle is used in arduous conditions and a customer complaint of clutch slip is confirmed, replace the clutch friction plate with the new ‘Heavy Duty’ plate now available in limited quantity from Land Rover Parts. For repair procedure, refer to Workshop Manual repair number 33.10.01
