Problem -

WIND NOISE AT SPEED - BUMPER GAPS

Wind whistle at Motorway speeds, audible within vehicle.

Cause

Air passing through gaps between front bumper, wing and headlamps.

Action

Apply seals to front bumper as follows:

1. Using the outer lower profile of the headlamp, chalk a mark on the bumper upper surface to indicate the boundary where seal is to be applied.

2. Remove front bumper (refer to Workshop Manual, Body - ‘Exterior Fittings’).

3. Carefully spirit wipe upper edges of bumper where seal is to be applied while leaving previously chalked lines in place.

4. Obtain seals part number ANR 3687 and cut into 400 mm lengths.

5. Referring to illustration, apply each 400 mm seal length to the upper edges of front bumper. Remove backing paper and begin by applying the seal cut end to start point ‘A’, (from the short raised portion, i.e. point adjacent to wing front edge when assembled). Continue applying seal slightly inboard of the chalk line so that on re-assembly it follows the profile of the headlamp, the seal should terminate with the seal closed end facing the base of over-rider.

6. Refit bumper.
