NOISY OPERATION OF FRONT DOOR GLASS

Customer complains of various noises when lowering or raising the door glass.

Cause

The following possible conditions and causes have been identified:

1. Scraping noise from door latch area when glass is lowered or raised. This is caused by the door latch security flap coming adrift and contacting the edge of the glass.

2. Clicking noise from forward area of door, which occurs when glass is approximately three - quarters down on the down cycle. This is caused by incorrect setting of the forward clamp - regulator to glass.

3. Knock when glass reaches bottom stop position, (fully open). This is caused by excess material on the forward runner guide contacting the down stop before the rubber buffer.

Action

On customer complaint of noisy glass operation, assess the condition and refer to the appropriate rectification method.

Refer to Workshop Manual repair number 76.34.01 for access information for all three repairs.
