The HSE will offer more luxury and technology than the previous range topping ES, and combined with the interior redesign and use of higher quality interior materials, will reinforce Freelander's position of sophistication and luxury. In addition, on all 5 door models and the majority of 3 door models, the improved seats from the ES Premium are now standard across the range. Included in the new technology is a dash mounted 6 CD autochanger, a revised Harmon Kardon speaker system and Park Distance Control.

There will be an entirely new derivative - the Freelander Sport. This derivative will be available in either Td4 or V6 versions and will offer a much sportier and responsive driving experience due to larger 18" wheels, lower profile tyres, revised dampers and a steering tune. This will be complemented by a sports orientated interior featuring Black Mogul seat coverings (as in Tomb Raider Defender). To cater for the customer who would like the Sports driving experience coupled with a luxury interior, there will also offer a Sports Premium derivative, featuring a higher specification interior which includes leather upholstery and improved ICE / technology.

From an engineering perspective, significant developments have been made with regard to quality and refinement.

Powertrain has not changed, and there have been no revisions in the range of engines or gearboxes available.

The Freelander Commercial will continue to be based on the 3 door, however, due to specification realignment, the Commercial loses the rear speakers and wooden floor.

S (roughly equivalent to 03MY GS specification),

SE (roughly equivalent to 03MY ES / Kalahari specification),

HSE (roughly equivalent to 03MY ES Premium specification),

Sport (roughly equivalent to 03MY ES / Kalahari specification),

Sport Premium (roughly equivalent to 03MY ES Premium specification)

The above is the total extent of the 04MY range. There will not be offering the Maasai, Serengeti or Kalahari trim levels.

Prices will not be identical to the outgoing 03MY standard line up or limited editions, and will reflect the improved quality and specification, but we firmly believe that the new range offers superb value for money in relation to the specification.
