Problem -

OIL LEAK FROM ENGINE OIL FILTER - INSUFFICIENT TORQUE

Cause

Insufficient torque applied when fitting oil filter.

Action

The oil filter tightening procedure has been revised and is now as follows:

1. Clean mating face of filter head.

2. Lubricate sealing ring of filter with clean engine oil.

3. Fit filter and tighten by hand until it seats then tighten a further full turn. Alternatively apply a torque of 16-18 Nm.

4. Top up engine oil.

5. Start and run engine and check for leaks.

6. Stop engine, wait a few minutes, then check oil level. Top up if necessary.
